Autoresponder questions?

I know everyone says get aweber or getresponse for better deliverability but no one every states any real numbers. Has anyone tried the big services versus the autoresponders your host provides? I'd like to know if it really is worth the money for me to get a service right now.

Ugh...I can't stand autoresponders period. They are good if you'll be away for an extended period of time and want your customers to know when they can except a response from you, but in general I think a personal answer is best.

That can get time consuming

I'm not talking for support issues but for contact with your customers after the fact. Once you have several hundred or several thousand people on your list, it would take days to email them individually of upcoming promotions or sales.

I can't really say. So long as you give your customers a way to opt out of e-mails about promotions and sales. But some places seem to enjoy sending a couple e-mails a week about stuff I don't need/want.

I'd say test it out on a couple e-mail accounts you can check the deliverability on. No need to pay for something you don't have to.

The major issue is that if you have a big list, you're bound to have users wrongly report it as spam, and then get the email server IP on blacklists, or most troublesome, have the big free email providers stop delivering your emails. The providers you mentioned do have systems and industry connections to not be easily or severely affected by such things. Numbers, sorry, I don't have any, though I did hear good things about aweber from time to time.
