Army: 12 dead, 31 hurt in attacks at Fort Hood

FORT HOOD, Texas – A soldier opened fire at a U.S. Army base in Fort Hood, Texas on Thursday, unleashing a stream of gunfire that left 12 people dead and 31 wounded.

Very sad indeed.

The number of dead has risen to 13 this morning. I can't even imagine the panic on that base yesterday, as that deranged Major shot everyone in sight.

All people come to their breaking points and its not verified but I have heard the numbers on both death/injured are higher than they are releasing. A friends family member was there and texting her during the ordeal.

I have a brother in arms that was there. We were in boot together, and did time on USS Enterprise in the same unit. It burns me to hear of such things, and I am at a lose for words on this action.

It's fortune that he was taken down by a civilian police sergeant within minutes, or this could have been far worse.

UPDATE: The Army psychiatrist suspected in a deadly rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, has been charged in a military court with 13 counts of premeditated murder.

Clearly, this Major was deranged. I was just sitting here thinking what kinds of torture would be appropriate for his punishment. My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of all those servicemen and women who were injured or died at his hands.
