Does anyone here use any p2p programs?
I use a p2p program called Filetopia for the chat on it, there is a very good community.
I was also a beta tester for the program for around 6 months and Im in the credits.

I have been coding my own program for over a year now and its been a public beta for over a month.

Im interested in the p2p scene more than what you can get from them...
Its the atmosphere i like really. Most of the program coders dont even use the programs or networks, they are just interested in the scene, I know most are like this

I don't use any of these programs anymore, although I used to use them alot, now I just get friends to download and send me things :)

How is Filetopia?

Filetopia isnt too bad, it used to be a very small program with a max of 800 users online at any time, its not really for downloading, a lot of the old ft regulars just use it for chat really, including myself.

The community is very good there although it used to be a lot better.
Theres normally around 3500-4000 online any time now which is still small compared to a lot of programs.

The program Im coding will be more based towards a community rather than downloading, as most people that know me know that I like a good community which is why most of my sites either are, or have, a forum :)

I used to use them so I could listen to music before I buy but that was slow and painful and I know use Apples Music Store (now also for windows) which has 20 second samples of more then 400, 000 of the most popular songs. It's great and there's no waiting time. Only problem is that you need an American billing address to actually buy the full songs.

iTunes Music Store

This is kind of related...
There is an article on Apple iTunes for Windows crashing PCs on a forum which isnt the best of things to hear about a big company ;)

Click here to read the article.

its a short article so wont take long if you do want to check it.

I havent checked out the sortware or the iTunes site yet but will soon :)

I have already read it. Just thought I would mention that it only runs on Windows 2000 and XP. It's a bit of a bummer but the software is great.

I like to use limewire - runs on java and sets a true p2p connection - dont want to have to worry about the feds busting me for downloading barney songs or something

Last time I used limewire was months ago but I didnt like it..
Cant remember why though.
I dont really download like I said which was probably part of the reason.
I like programs which have a good community on them, thinking of checking out soulseek yet which seems to have a good community

p2p = peer to peer
Its the method of connection from one person to another.
Thats the programs like kazaa, napster etc. Im sure you would have heard of those :)

I think kazaa alsocomplained about google having some links in the search engine, Im not sure if thats why those search results are removed.

I think Kazaa complained that some other programs where illegal (edited) versions of Kazaa and so they got google to remove the search results to them. But then again Kazaa is not that legal either.
