anyone beta testing IE 7 ?

I must be hated by so many people, but I have never had problems with Microsoft or IE. That is my favorite browser (I have tried all of them), but I am yet to use 7th version of it once it is not in beta anymore.

IE is the only browser that displays all web sites the way they were supposed to be viewed.

Best,

I agree, you can see sites much better with IE.

I have a dooubt, when I open multiple tabs in Firefox, I see lots of memory usage, sometimes windows increases virtual memory to accomodate the actual requirements.Has others noted same ? if yes, how IE 7.0 beta is performing in this area ?

Thankyou.

I too am an avid IE user.

I personally find it ironic that so many people love browsers such as Firefox, Opera, etc.

These browsers cause more work, and the excused away with the "If you only coded properly, you'd be compatible with Firefox"

How about the browser being compatible with us? IE is.

I have always used IE as well and never had problems.

I've tried Opera and Netscape and Firefox among others and none of them are as good as IE.

I find that most people who don't use IE are the anti Microsoft crowd, who have no idea why they hate Microsoft they just think it's cool to do so.

I've never understood that either.
If 90% of the world uses IE and other browsers want to compete then why don't they make their browsers compatible instead of demanding programmers to alter their code to make it compatible.

That would be like opening a McDonald's franchise and expecting all of the suppliers to change their specs just for your restaurant even though all the restaurants use the current specs.

I've used IE and had no real problem with it. I can use pretty much any program, and once I switched to Firefox, I got used to it and stayed with it. personally, I would prefer 3-4 browsers effectively sharing the market and following the standards. Competition is good! :)

I have been using the IE7 beta, so far so good. There have been a few minor glitches early on that had to be reported, since the last update all is well.

I am a firefox user, all the way! IE is great but its just the security issues that take place. Firefox is also much handier when it comes to quick searches, and the small things like editing text in the address bar... :-D

Started out with IE and after a friend of mine supposedly got a virus from IE I just decided to switch to Firefox to be on the safe side. Even though the only true way to be "safe" is to have a firewall and anti-virus. Can anyone post any key differences between IE6 and IE7?

Firefox and the other browsers follow standard W3-valid CSS, so it's not like they're demanding programmers to alter their code. IE is the one that has introduced a lot of nonstandard IE-only properties. But since most surfers use Windows as their OS where IE is the default browser, people are already used to them and are actually thinking that these are standard properties and that Firefox and the other browsers are not following the standards, when it is actually the other way around.

I have tested IE7 when it first came out of BETA after issues i removed it and continued to use IE6

FireFox and Opera are not all that; as people make it to be.

You don't know how excited I am to find that a majority of people on a forum support IE! Finally I'm not a struggling minority of those that don't conform to the "nonconformist" standards. No, I'm not against FF, but I have found it a major hassle in my programming when I have to change large amounts of code so it displays properly on all browsers. I actually do use FF when I anticipate using many browser tabs/windows, but all the other things like security and compatability are almost invalid.

Back on-topic: I didn't know IE7 went out on beta... That's good news to me because I was really looking forward to it since I heard it would have tabs, have "better" security, and dull, if not silence, the flaming Firefoxers.

I don’t see a point. I don’t use Internet Explorer at all anymore.

Yes there will be a few improvements since IE6, although there is really no chance that IE7 will be any better than Firefox or Opera. It may have tabbed browsing, but I doubt to the advanced level of Opera – and then of course it won’t have all the extras that Opera comes with out of the box (as opposed to Firefox which you need 3rd party add-ons).

Also, I disagree that those of us who use other browsers should just stop. I’m not anti-Microsoft at all, it’s just for me I cannot do the same amount of things with IE as I can with Opera – that’s another reason why I don’t use Firefox (not to mention I find it uses too many resources even on a new and well-equipped computer).

And, another good reason for having multiple browsers is that competition is always good. It drives up standards, as is well known, and there is always innovation. If the only browser available was IE, who knows how long it would take until we had tabbed browsing (already it’s taken IE a long time to catch up) and I’m very doubtful IE would ever go further than standard web browsing where as Opera allows much more: integrated email, integrated IRC chat, integrated notes, etc. etc. – I could just go on.
