Heard this morning that Google was considering purchasing Twitter. What are your thoughts?
Good point, but is there the POTENTIAL for huge profit?Google may know more about the Internet than I do, but if I were buying a business, I'd at least want it to show profitability first.
While YouTube dominates web video, it has had a hard time monetizing, largely because marketers are reluctant to advertise alongside user-generated videos. That's all going to change next year, according to YouTube's director of content, Jordan Hoffner.
YouTube has recently rolled out lower-third ads, ads beside videos and search ads, and will focus on click-to-buy and co-branded entertainment deals in the new year (2009) . In addition, YouTube plans to make more deals for premium content in the hope of shaking the stigma that it is only a place to watch videos of skateboarding cats.
Sounds a lot like the thinking that went on in people's mind during the technology stocks bubble...Good point, but is there the POTENTIAL for huge profit?
Agreed. But if I were a gambling person, I wouldn't bet against Google. LOL.Sounds a lot like the thinking that went on in people's mind during the technology stocks bubble...
In June of 2008 "The goal of Google is not to monetise everything, our goal is to change the world – monetisation is a technology to pay for it," he said. It "seemed obvious" there should be "significant amounts of money" to be made from YouTube, he added, but the company has not yet come up with the formula.

I read about this as well this morning, from my understanding they are in the talking stage. Anything can happen or not.
I believe Google was interested in Digg last year but they ended walking away.
