Another year

I am about to tack on another year to life as I know it and you know the closer I get to "over the hill" I really am thinking thats just spewage that people tell you to remind you that even though they got you a crappy birthday gift, it could still be crappier. How old is everyone here and how long have you been doing what you do?

Been doing this professionally since 2002, and...well...sort of professionally (provided limited hosting to some design clients) since 1997.

27 and I've been in the media business since my early teenage years (I started my high school newspaper).

In my 30's, but feel like I'm in my 50's. Hosting is my 3rd business venture. I've been doing this since 1994.

As for over the hill, the hill keeps getting bigger! Most of my friends (in their 50's and 60's) are still only reaching peak. 50 is the new 30, 60 is the new 40 :)

Happy birthday though! Enjoy the crappy gift ;)

I am about to turn 21 baby January 29th can't wait to gamble and play texas holdem :P I have started selling stuff on the internet when I was 16 and started making websites a couple of years after that.

You have a great way to go about cheering a person up. :D For the most part I am expecting this year to be better than the last in all senses - work, family and fun. I am hoping to squeeze in two vacations well, so that is what I am looking forward too, not so much the crappy gifts.

hehe... well since you start, how far up the hill are you? I don't think I'll ever be on the down side myself, the crest seems to always be in the distance :)

I'm 30 and honestly when days like today hit I feel like I'm already on the downslope!! My daughter just runs me ragged.

I went to uni as a mature student, so the world of computers has only been my home for four years.

Wow, I feel old now. I'm 35 and have been in the hosting field for eleven or so years now. This is a great market and best of all it is maturing. I've been very lucky and hard work has always seemed to pay off. AbbieRose, yes the kids do slow us down. But it is sooo worth it :) Just get good help.

I have no help, none at all! My daughter is never out of my care, in fact she's only had a babysitter once in her life, and one day without me when I had surgery.

I'm not in a good situation right but that will change soon.

You're right, this business really is maturing. Its one of the few things that thus far is surviving the recession.

I think demand for the web hosting industry will be there for a long time. I forgot where I read it but the industry is growing at 25% a year and I think it will do that until the whole world is online and then after there will still be demand for all the website out there.

I can not believe you asked my age when you could have just checked my profile. :D 28-29 soon enough. And yes kids run is all crazy sometimes but they are worth each minute. As for the hosting world and why I am here, I like shiny things? :D

Well, I like to keep these things private. But so far at least, I am the oldest here by a significant margin. Yes, for some of you, I might be your parents' age.

hehe.. Didn't even think to look in the profile actually. :) All these new fangled buttons I have to get used to ;) hehe
All those darn fancy doodads and whatnot right? :D

I doubt that, my parents had me very late in life and had already both been through two marriages before I came alone. :)

Good to see some younger people getting into this world. The more the merrier indeed and it just shows what a great type of industry we are all in to have such a good thing that spans over many age groupd.
