Anchor texts

David
I got a question for all you fine people. I believe my anchor texts are the reason why traffic hasn't been that great on my site. I did an audit and this is what it said my anchor texts were. When I guest comment on blogs (I follow a few), should I be using my blogs name? or my blogs name with a seo text attached? For example, RomesBlog - Dividend Investing or just RomesBlog? Also, any suggestions on how to improve my traffic and anchor texts are appreciated it.

If possible, have it using the keywords too.

That said, if they're comments on posts, they fall under User Generated Content (UGC) and much of that is ignored by Google. Not all of it is ignored, and if you're getting eyeballs on the posts, then those are still worth doing. If you can get quoted in the blog post and the link comes from inside the text of the article, that's going to have more weight.

Thanks for the response Conor. I will have to modify my name and insert keywords. I'm still not sure what could be affecting my traffic. Its weird.

Hi Romes, Not sure if you mean traffic from Google or from the sites you are listed on.
In the case of the sites you are listed on I can't see them but I would try to use more descriptive anchor text. to create a better CTR. I believe you are using "natural link anchor texts" but you need some partial or more descriptive types in there too. I also noted that about 3k of your backlinks come from one domain. If you look that domain up it doesn't get traffic either. So you won't get referral traffic from there.

  1. Diversify your link text.
  2. Look for better domains that have traffic.
  3. When I look at other articles in your industry they are relatively long and convey a sense of knowledge, I didn't really get that from your blog, I'm not saying you aren't an expert, delve in a bit deeper with the content. See what others are writing make sure you write about what they write and then cover the stuff they missed.
It's also worth noting the industry you are in as a REALLY tough one. From a competition standpoint and from getting trust from Google as it has to do with Finance.

Regards
Peter

Thanks for the advise and taking the time to look into my site. I will adjust and fix it so 2024 is a better year for the site.

Focus on creating high-quality content that is relevant and valuable to your audience. Use your target keywords naturally and contextually, and don't overdo it. To prevent over-optimization, use different anchor text types, such as branded, keyword-rich, and naked URLs.
