American Idol starts tonight.

After watching the broadcast tonight....I'd love to hear what everyone has to say about tonight's contestants. lol

Never got into American Idol, Cartoon Network is playing right now on our TV.

Yeap, Mark hasn't been online for quite some time... :smash:
That's what happens when someone becomes extremely successful :king: and rich :twocents: - they are enjoying the benefits of celebrity life :thankyou: and forget about us regular folk.. :(

lol c'mon guys heh, I was on all day yesterday, just not much today.

I know I know...lol it seems like forever though.

The 2 big twin brothers were pretty good, and a few of the singles too, but nobody really shone (yet). Then again, it's early on. If I think back to Carrie Underwood's audition, it was a far cry from what she was at the end of the competition.

I don't mind the mildly amusing banter between Simon and Paula, but it's getting old and I think they're now taking it to an extreme. It's quite transparent how they're trying to milk it, and most of it now appears contrived and premeditated.

When will this fad die!?! Just put American Idol up on the shelf with Vanilla Ice and The New Kids on the Block as one of those 'things' that we are going to wish we had not wasted our time on.

I completely agree. Is it me, or does it seem that this season, the majority of the tryouts that were shown, were actually good? Compared to the previous seasons, more and more people this seasons are pretty damn good.

When will this fad die!?!
As soon as the majority of the people watching, find something better to watch. I too never liked the show, but after so much talk about it, etc...I decided to sit down one night and watch it. That's all it takes. Once you do that, you have to tune in next week to see who gets booted, and so on, and so on.

It will die, when it stops producing money, and ratings. Until then, be prepared to simply accept that American Idol is here to stay, for at least another 2 maybe 3 seasons (maybe even more).

Dan, I'm surprised you haven't heard of this show. www.americanidol.com . It started 4 years ago in the UK as Pop Idol and was an immediate hit as American Idol. The Idol format now runs in well over 30 countries. Canadian Idol, Australian Idol, heck, there's even Iranian Idol.

We should do one of those HostingDiscussion Idol series... the winner gets to be a mod for a day. :)

Of course, being from Europe, I have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about! :D

Never heard of Pop Idol? That's the British and Europe Name for American Idol, and I'm suprised British started this Series don't the U.S make the best Reality / Game Tv Show (Minus Big Brother) and we just buy the copyrights and make a copy of it? :p

It's usually the other way around.
The Brits usually do the good shows and the Yanks copy them.

I live in a poorer corner of Europe. We do borrow/license shows from abroad, but Pop Idol didn't get here (nor did I ever heard of it up until now), and it probably won't get here anytime soon as our own BigBrother show faded very rapidly, and that may serve as a warning that Romanians' tastes are different. :)

Guess my tastes are not "in vogue" anymore. Too old maybe????

I don't know anyone who will even admit that they even watch American Idol ... or Canadian Idol for that matter. Actually ... I don't think I know anyone who watches ANY of the "reality" shows. Well ... maybe my 17 yr old neice but ... and even she blames it on "her youth". :)

But I guess since they keep on coming back year after year ... after year ... after year ... SOME people must be watching them. Personally, I prefer to stay in "fantasyland" ... so I will watch something that has a little more "fluff" and fiction to it. Like the news :)
