I actually don't spend very much on advertising my hosting site.
At the minute I'm spend around $75/month and I am starting to advertise in more places.
I advertise on webmaster sites, sites like HR, sites which would have professionals interested in opening a site for their business.
I go for higher end sites though would would have visitors that are 20+ as I don't offer the cheapest hosting around

Same here, mainly WHT, or Hosthideout. I also have a few free clients with ads up of mine.

I prefer free advertising but I do have a banner on the bottom of this site
