I read some data that indicated with around 30,000 unique visitors per month to your website, ad revenue can be expected to be around $140 to $200 a month. This is a pretty decent chunk of change for simple banner ads placed on your site.

Well my site is averaging 43,000 unique visitors per month right now, and has a steady increasing trend. I am basing this data off of the reliable AwStats stats processing system. My future plans for the site only lead to a continuing increase in traffic.

My website is running Google ads right now, but the content does not relate to high paying Google ads. I earn around $10 a month right now from the Google ads. If I could be making $200 a month or more, I would like that.

So my question is, where would I go and who would I contact to get the "real" advertising agents interested in my website? The site's demographic are video gamers, so the first that comes to mind would be Dell Computers as a good advertiser for the website. I did send them an e-mail, but I am wondering if there are separate advertising agencies that put together a rotation which I would place on the site; sort of like they re-sell ads.

Any help / advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated. I figure if I have the content and the traffic, I might as well capitalize on it.

Thanks!

To gain full advantage of advertising, your advertisers would have to be more refined than just Adwords/Google ads. Nobody is going to buy an ad on HD for $70pm to advertise their daughter's pony, but if you get a hosting company involved, then you're likely to make that kind of money.

If you narrow down your "agents" to a sector which is directly influenced by your "type" of website, you might well make cash like that.

Maybe if you gave us a link to your site, we'd be able to better help you out.

Also,

Got a link to the source of that? Might be an interesting article...

Maybe using the ad space to promote companies with affiliate programs will be mode lucrative than Google Adsense.

CJ.com is a good place to find alots of affiliate programs on all sorts of "subjects".

Test it out for month. What can you lose? $10? :)

Good luck!

Hi -

Thanks for the replies. My website is:

http://www.cod2hq.com

It initially started off as a rather small fan site, but my readership has increased a lot since I launched the site over a year ago. I already stated my traffic, and I have almost 10,000 registered users.

The problem is, my site is dedicated to the game "Call of Duty 2" which almost immediately dates my site. As soon as that game phases out, so does the site's content.

So what I am doing to secure my future with the website, is I acquired the domain name www.codhq.com and am actually just a couple days away from re-launching the site with a new face, as "Call of Duty HQ" which will be robust enough to house content for ALL future "Call of Duty" franchise titles.

That is why I expect my readership and user base to continue to grow, as future titles are confirmed.

As for the data I read, it was through a Yahoo finance article, the actual data is on the following page:

http://www.namic.org/advertise/default.asp

You see a table half way down the page. I may have interpretted the data wrong, but I don't think so... This graph shows even fewer page views with similar pricing that I described in my previous post.

I will check out the CJ.com offers. Thanks a lot. And any other advice or suggestions are welcomed!

Regards,
-Josh

I'd suggest contacting the games suppliers that cater towards the majority of your target audience.
Our Warcraft III supplier in my country happily donated servers and hardware to us in exchange for advertising :p

You could also see if there are any affiliate programs that offer Call of Duty and give you a percentage of each sale, or ppc. I know affiliate programs were mentioned above, but you could probably increase your revenue if you targeted Call of Duty specific programs.

What about Alienware.com?

There systems are more designed with the game in mind. another good one would be a site like EBgames or Gamstop and if you're looking to save your users some money visit sosdeals.com and you could save a fortune on video and pc games.

Nothingbutsoftware.com is another good place to save some money on games for the computer and Computer Geeks, Tigerdirect, etc.
