A Hostname entry problems

Hey guys,

I ran into a problem with a new server I have seutp. I am setting it up to run the nameservers N3.VOVEX.COM and NS4.VOVEX.COM however I am running into some bind issues with the A entries.

So far Ive spent 2 days trying to figure this out and nothing has seemed to work. I was having rndc errors but managed to fix that.

If someone could help me out, contact me either on this board, aim, email.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: Im using redhat 9 with BIND9 with WHM/CPANEL 8.5.4

I am having the same problem on 2 servers now. These are new machines. Anyhow, will probally hit the cPanel forums today.

Well, at least the hostname is not that big of deal. Everything still works.

Ok. I have the Solution:

You need to create a DNS zone file for the mtxis.net domain for the server but make sure that this domain itself points to the IP address it is supposed to point to... afterwards, you need to add an A entry for the hostname of the server WITHIN that dns zone file.

Change MTXIS.net to your Domain of the Hostname.

Cheers :)

Found the solution:

Edit the DNS record for the hostname and remove the localhost stuff. That fixed it on 2 boxes I have.
