cPanel

Does anyone have anything on cPanel? Perhaps I missed it? Links to threads?

Tony, what exactly are you looking to know about cPanel? Is there some big news that I haven't heard about, even though we're a Partner NOC member?

Congrats on the partnership! I'm asking because I am learning cPanel, as was just looking for a thread as i always have questions. cPanel support can be a little overwhelming with there responses.

I am in the process of teaching my self Linux / cPanel and looking to add a web hosting element. I don't really like reaching out to cPanel support. I am teaching my self everything I feel I should know. The forums provide a space to add value, and search for answers.

Great news. If I was you, I'd make sure you have a solid understanding in Linux, bash scripting, performance management, the kernel and networking before you move onto anything else. I have seen so many 'web hosts' setup shop who have no understanding of Linux or ever worked with it before, slap on cPanel, and whatever other 'tools' they choose to use then start selling hosting. I've had customers join us because their previous host couldn't do X, Y or Z. I'm over here thinking it's basic system administration. You need to have a good understanding of the underlying tech.

You could even setup a LAMP stack manually, so you have an understanding how a web server is put together and what different configurations can do for you.

I know cPanel have the 'cPanel University', although I'm not sure if you need to be a partner to complete this training - maybe someone else who knows can answer? cPanel isn't too difficult, at the end of the day it's a pretty GUI wrapper around mostly free, open source technologies. The cPanel documentation will help you a lot through the setup and initial configuration.

Fair enough.
If I were you I would create a test server where you install cPanel. Try to learn and experiment around with cPanel since you have a 15 day free trial.
The prices are expensive though, just a heads up.
Do as much as possible in the 15 days that you have, cPanel is a great tool for both learning and earning money.
Then, once you feel comfortable, set up your web hosting business either manually or automated (using a tool such as WHMCS). Scale your business so as you grow and earn profits, you then buy tools like WHMCS and cPanel to automate the process.
Personally, I wouldn't use cPanel if you are new. Start with a free alternative like CyberPanel and then move to cPanel when you earn enough.

Yeah, if you think about is, the control panel is huge. It comes with ACL's (Access Control Lists), web hosting packages, one-click installs, etcetera. The list goes on and on. So try experimenting with it first, learn a bit more about it and then make the decision if you are going to use it or not.

Use online learning resources and post any challenges you encounter in the forums so we can help you.

The first thing to learn about cpanel is their prices (I am not joking) after that I would suggest youtube videos about cpanel/whm install, security hardening, and creating the cpanel accounts.
