In a move set to significantly shake up the data streaming world, Ververica, the original creators behind Apache Flink, has announced its new “Bring Your Own Cloud” (BYOC) deployment option.
Revealed at their flagship event, Flink Forward, this innovative feature promises to offer businesses both flexibility and control over their cloud infrastructure for real-time data streaming.
The BYOC deployment, expected to roll out by November 2024, delivers a managed experience of Apache Flink, while enabling organizations to leverage their existing cloud investments. Initially launching for AWS users, Ververica plans to extend the option to other major platforms, including Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, shortly thereafter.
At the heart of BYOC is Ververica’s VERA engine, a powerful tool that allows businesses to develop both batch and real-time streaming applications with greater efficiency. Moreover, the true differentiator lies in its design around Zero Trust principles. This means that companies retain full control over their data governance, maintaining sovereignty in a world increasingly concerned with security breaches. In today’s complex cloud environments, where agility must balance with security, this is a huge win for organizations.
In addition, Chief Product Officer Vladimir Jandreski summed up Ververica’s mission: “Flexibility and security are no longer trade-offs. Our BYOC solution ensures businesses can operate with agility while keeping their data fully protected.”
The BYOC deployment seamlessly integrates with existing DevOps workflows, speeding up application development without the need for downtime. It’s fast, efficient, and, according to Ververica CEO Alexander Walden, offers streaming speeds that double those of the open-source Apache Flink, adding significant value to businesses looking to optimize their data strategies.
As the streaming data race intensifies, Ververica’s BYOC offering positions itself as a game-changer, combining speed, flexibility, and security in one comprehensive platform.
