Red Sea cable cuts trigger Microsoft Azure disruptions, wider internet slowdowns

Microsoft reported latency on its Azure cloud platform after multiple undersea cables broke in the Red Sea, slowing traffic to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. By Saturday evening, engineers rerouted connections and restored service. NetBlocks also confirmed internet slowdowns in India and Pakistan. The incident highlights how a single regional disruption can ripple through global networks, exposing the internet’s reliance on vulnerable subsea cables.
