Oracle and Google Cloud have taken another coordinated step in their multicloud partnership, and this time Canada sits at the center of it. The companies introduced Oracle Database at Google Cloud to customers in the country, giving local organizations a way to run Oracle’s AI-focused database services directly inside Google Cloud regions in Montreal and Toronto. The move arrives at a moment when Canadian businesses face rising pressure to modernize while still keeping sensitive data inside national borders.
The rollout gives customers access to Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure, Autonomous AI Database, and Autonomous AI Lakehouse through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure running inside Google Cloud. Because the services operate in Canadian regions, organizations in finance, public services, healthcare, and other regulated sectors can keep data local while still connecting to Google Cloud’s analytics and AI stack. Leaders in both companies say this combination removes a long-standing barrier for teams that want to shift critical workloads without triggering compliance conflicts.
As multicloud strategies mature in Canada, teams increasingly want the ability to move applications at their own pace. With this launch, organizations can run their Oracle workloads where they prefer while still tapping into Google Cloud tools such as BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Gemini models. Several early adopters have pointed to the value of using familiar database structures while gaining easier access to newer AI capabilities.
In addition, Oracle and Google Cloud partners can now offer these services through Google Cloud Marketplace. That change matters because many Canadian companies already rely on local partners to navigate cloud migrations. By allowing them to use existing Google Cloud commitments for Oracle services, the companies hope to reduce purchasing complexity and help teams consolidate their spending.
The event is also indicative of changes that are happening in the greater area. Canada has been very progressive with her digital-transformation programs in both public and private sectors, however, a large number of organizations are still reluctant to take their workloads outside their own borders. Now that Oracle Database is available in two Canadian Google Cloud regions, these groups have the freedom to upgrade their systems while still being able to maintain their security.
