As users migrate from X (formerly Twitter) to platforms like Threads, Mastodon, and Bluesky, Openvibe tackles the challenge of managing multiple social accounts in one place.
Originally designed to connect users across Mastodon, Nostr, and Bluesky, Openvibe now includes support for Meta’s Threads. This new addition lets users post and engage seamlessly across diverse networks.
Launched earlier this summer, Openvibe combines posts from various feeds into one streamlined view. Here, users can post, reply, and follow updates across multiple platforms.
CEO Matej Svancer describes Openvibe as a “gateway to the open social web.” Similar to how Trillian once unified chat services like AIM and Yahoo! Messenger, Openvibe brings together today’s leading social alternatives built on protocols like ActivityPub and AT Protocol.
Svancer emphasizes that for decentralized platforms to thrive, they must stay accessible and interconnected. Rather than relying on bridge accounts or extra servers, Openvibe offers simple, direct cross-posting. “The open social space can challenge legacy social media, but only if it’s united,” Svancer said in a recent TechCrunch interview.
With the new Threads integration on iOS and Android, users can now log in, cross-post, and follow accounts across Threads, Mastodon, Bluesky, and Nostr. While Threads’ API has some limitations, Openvibe optimizes the experience to keep it smooth and user-friendly. Currently, the app remains ad-free and free to use, though a subscription model may support its future development.
Following the Threads update, Openvibe promptly addressed minor issues reported by users and released troubleshooting guides. The latest update includes not only Threads support but also bug fixes and an improved post-composition flow, making user interactions more reliable.
A desktop version is also in the works. By unifying multiple social platforms, Openvibe joins other cross-posting tools like Croissant, which also supports alternative networks but uses a subscription model. As more users explore new social spaces, Openvibe’s streamlined, multi-network approach may be exactly what the expanding open social web needs.
