Jet.AI has taken its pivot from private aviation to data infrastructure a step further, partnering with Consensus Core Technologies to build a massive AI data center in Midwestern Canada. The two companies have signed a definitive agreement to co-develop a site that could eventually support 500MW of compute power. A 2MW facility is already live on-site, with a 100MW target set for the initial phase.
Although they’re keeping the location confidential, executives confirmed that the land sits close to a high-capacity power line, a major natural gas pipeline, and a nearby fiber access point. Consensus Core CEO Wayne Lloyd described the location as ideal for next-generation AI workloads, citing its energy access and infrastructure positioning.
Jet.AI founder Mike Winston explained the strategy more bluntly. He pointed out that without the recent shale boom and domestic renewables push in the U.S., the region’s energy would have already been sold south through long-term contracts. Instead, that idle capacity now powers servers directly at the source. Winston also highlighted Canada’s cold climate as a natural advantage, helping cool systems without added energy costs.
This marks Jet.AI’s second major move in the sector. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to develop a 50MW site on a 120-acre property in Las Vegas, with room to scale up to 1GW. The Midwestern build signals an even deeper shift, as the firm focuses on edge locations that combine power, cooling, and scale. Consensus Core, which currently operates out of a Cologix data center in Montreal, will contribute both the Midwestern and Maritime projects to the joint venture.
As demand for AI infrastructure explodes, both companies appear ready to challenge traditional data center models by building where the resources naturally align.
