We’ve seen web hosts that parade sales gimmicks as economy boosters, and we’ve seen web hosts that make no excuses about using the wealth of one economy to fund another, but rarely have we seen a web host that actually boosts its own economy. Joining the ranks of these fabled web hosts is HostDime. This Orlando-based web host has been in operation since 2001, and has more than 700,000 hosted domains on 3000 servers. It is one of the top 50 web hosts in the world.
Last week, HostDime announced that it will open up a dedicated customer support center in Orlando, about 10 miles from the company’s headquarters. The new support center will ensure that all customer support tickets are answered within 15 minutes. Not only is this move good for the customer, it’s also good for the Florida economy. HostDime is expected to add 20 new jobs to help populate the support center. In the press release, HostDime’s CEO Emmanuel Vivar said, “We are also proud to create high-quality jobs in Central Florida at a time when so many companies are handing out pink slips.”
Although HostDime is a global web host, it contributes to the local economies of its various international divisions. It has local offices in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, with plans to open a new office in India. While it doesn’t have local offices in the UK, it does have a data center there. Well done. It’s a refreshing change to see a company supporting the economy that supports it. Do you know of any other web hosts that create American jobs in this economy?
