Google Cloud and Formula E have announced a landmark expansion of their collaboration, unveiling a multi-year partnership centered on artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced cloud technologies. As Formula E’s Official Cloud Technology Services Partner and Official Cloud Security Partner, Google Cloud is set to redefine the championship’s technological landscape both on and off the track.
This enhanced alliance builds on Formula E’s recent migration of its data to Google Cloud and its workforce to Google Workspace. Now, the championship plans to leverage Google’s cutting-edge AI offerings, including Vertex AI and Gemini models, to analyze driver performance and create tailored fan experiences using BigQuery.
“We’re thrilled to announce this enhanced partnership,” said Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds. “Working with Google Cloud will not only elevate our technological capabilities but also drive our growth and evolution as a leading motorsport championship. Together, we’ll enhance race car performance and provide even more thrilling, action-packed racing for our fans.”
The partnership also includes robust cloud security measures to safeguard Formula E’s data while supporting the development of the GENBETA car program, which aims to push the boundaries of sustainable racing innovation.
Tara Brady, president of Google Cloud EMEA, emphasized the collaboration’s transformative potential. “With our gen AI tools and data analytics, we’re helping Formula E supercharge motorsport innovation. This partnership showcases how cutting-edge technology can redefine the possibilities of sustainable racing.”
As Formula E continues its journey as a pioneer in electrified motorsport, this collaboration signals a new era of tech-driven racing, setting the pace for sustainability, innovation, and fan engagement worldwide.
