CtrlS Datacenters is boosting its presence in Patna by investing $48 million (Rs 400 crore) in a new Edge data center. Located just 300 meters from their current site in the Pataliputra Industrial Area, this new facility will significantly enhance the company’s infrastructure in the region.
Strengthening India’s Digital Infrastructure
Sridhar Pinnapureddy, CEO of CtrlS, emphasized that the new center will offer a 10MW IT load capacity and accommodate 1,000 racks. This move aligns with CtrlS’s ongoing mission to drive digital transformation across India, particularly for businesses that require reliable and scalable data solutions.
CtrlS continues to expand rapidly. The company already operates Edge data centers in Lucknow and Patna. Additionally, it plans to establish over 20 more in smaller cities. These new sites will complement the existing 13 data centers in major cities like Mumbai, Noida, and Bengaluru.
Increasing Demand for Data Centers
India’s digital landscape is evolving quickly. With more people using the internet, smartphones, and streaming services, the demand for advanced data infrastructure is rising. A CBRE report estimates that investments in India’s data centers will exceed $20 billion by 2025. Moreover, the country’s data center capacity is expected to nearly double by 2026.
Regional Growth in Asia-Pacific
The expansion of data centers is not limited to India. In fact, the Asia-Pacific region, excluding Japan, is also experiencing significant growth. An IDC report forecasts that the region’s data center IT power capacity will grow by 14.2% annually, reaching 94.4 GW by 2028. This surge is driven by the increasing demand for modern IT infrastructure and the booming AI industry.
In summary, CtrlS’s expansion in Patna represents a strategic move to support India’s digital future. As the demand for data centers continues to rise, these facilities will play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure.
