Initially, AWS faced doubts about managing such a large open-source project. However, over time, it has welcomed broader participation and built a collaborative environment. Now, with the Linux Foundation’s guidance, OpenSearch can grow independently, boosting its presence in search and analytics.
Joining the Linux Foundation will help OpenSearch access governance support and expertise in managing open-source projects. Jim Zemlin, executive director of the Linux Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s excitement to support OpenSearch in providing reliable search tools for businesses and individuals. This partnership will also distance the project from its AWS-centric roots, ensuring global participation.
