Atlassian has entered a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to integrate its suite of collaboration tools with Google’s advanced AI tech. So, platforms like Jira, Confluence, and Loom are now set to leverage Google’s AI infrastructure—think Gemini and Vertex AI—for boosted functionality.

Co-founder and CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes called the partnership a “major leap” toward the company’s goal of unlocking team potential. By pairing Google’s infrastructure with Atlassian’s AI platform, Rovo, the two companies plan to deliver intelligent agents that can process multiple forms of input, solve complex problems, and support decisions with deep contextual insight.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the move will tighten integration with Google Workspace while boosting scalability and reliability. Atlassian’s applications will now run on technologies like Cloud Spanner and Google Kubernetes Engine, giving them a stronger backbone for global operations.
Rovo, already in use by more than two million active users, will gain the ability to interpret voice, text, and images. It will draw from both Atlassian and Google Workspace data to produce consolidated project updates, align release schedules, and surface the right information at the right moment. The addition of Agent2Agent interoperability should also make it easier for Rovo to work alongside other AI systems in complex environments.
