The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) has publicly named Amazon, Meta, and Tesla as some of the worst corporate offenders undermining global democracy.
In its report, ITUC accused these tech giants of exploiting workers, monopolizing industries, and using their vast influence to sway political and regulatory systems.
Amazon topped the list for union-busting, tax evasion, and enabling far-right groups on its platforms. Meta, the union argued, has manipulated global perceptions with its powerful algorithms and advertising model, while disregarding privacy laws and failing to police hate speech. Tesla, on the other hand, was singled out for poor labor practices, environmental damage, and ongoing disputes with unions.
ITUC’s critique doesn’t stop at these companies. It highlights how corporations like Blackstone, ExxonMobil, and Glencore, through their lobbying efforts, erode democratic institutions and exploit the global economy for profit.
According to ITUC, unchecked corporate influence fosters a dangerous partnership between business interests and far-right political movements, undermining both workers’ rights and global governance.
ITUC calls for collective action to reclaim democracy, urging that corporations prioritize people and the planet over profits. As the influence of these companies continues to grow, the report emphasizes that the fight for fair governance is more crucial than ever.
