Amazon expands data center footprint with $37M land purchase near Atlanta

Amazon Data Services has acquired 118 acres in Douglas County, Georgia, for $37 million, further expanding its data center presence. This comes after Amazon’s 430-acre purchase in Covington earlier this year. While AWS doesn’t yet operate a cloud region in Georgia, Atlanta remains a key hub for its Edge locations, with major data center players like Microsoft and CoreSite also established in the area.
