Google is deepening its roots in Nevada, announcing a $400 million investment to expand its data center presence in Storey and Clark counties. This latest funding pushes Google’s total Nevada investment to over $2.2 billion since 2019, underscoring its commitment to both technology and the local community.
Google’s data centers are more than just infrastructure; they’re catalysts for economic growth and innovation. Governor Joe Lombardo highlighted the impact, noting that Google’s continued investment solidifies Nevada’s standing as an emerging tech hub.
Beyond data centers, Google is also investing in the environment. The company recently contributed $500,000 to the National Forest Foundation to protect the Truckee River watershed and reduce wildfire risks. Additionally, Google signed a deal to procure 100MW of geothermal energy in Nevada, furthering its sustainability efforts.
Joe Kava, VP of Google Data Centers, emphasized that these investments are about more than just meeting demand. They’re about enhancing the state’s vitality and supporting local communities.
Google’s ongoing expansion in Nevada, with its blend of economic and environmental focus, signals a long-term commitment to the region, ensuring that Nevada remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
