AWS designs its own liquid cooling to power Nvidia Blackwell without rebuilding DCs

To handle Nvidia’s dense GB200 NVL72 GPUs, AWS engineered a custom liquid cooling system that avoids major retrofits. Its in-house In Row Heat Exchanger fits directly into existing infrastructure and uses AWS-Nvidia-designed cold plates to circulate coolant efficiently. The internal team built and deployed the solution in under a year. After the reveal, Vertiv shares fell 11 percent as investors reacted to AWS reducing reliance on external cooling providers.
