    Domain Name Mark Up

Your response is excellent. When I went back in to check what I was charging and what I was earning, I think I came up with prices that would cover the PayPal fees. I didn't want to charge too much either so that I can get customers. Mostly, what I've tried to do is keep my hosting prices low...

    Domain Name Mark Up

I'm trying to determine better pricing and such things and wondering what a fair mark up would be for domain resellers? I buy my domains from a reseller company and typically add a couple bucks to the price of the domain. I don't know if this is too high or too low. Any thoughts?

    Ridiculously low prices

That's the way I see it also. Although I'm not sure I want to maintain hardware because of the time I know it takes. I did find a provider what offers VPS with 450GB on SSD so that is getting my attention. I only have to maintain the software and things associated.

    Over Selling

That's what I figured already. I did find a data center about an hour from me that does colo. I was doing some searching today and actually found a hosting company with a VPS plan offering 450GB on SSD. That I really like. So I am thinking on that because even though it costs a bit more than...

Thanks for your reply, however I'm not going on luck, I'm working toward success. :) Not many will take a yearly plan even at ridiculously low rates. I've been considering buying a new machine with a 100TB SSD or larger and colocating it. It would offer far more flexibility than running VPS. And...

    Ridiculously low prices

I've been crunching the numbers as I've checked out some hosting companies that actually offer web hosting even lower than $3.00 a month. I was puzzled as to how they do it. I know I can't do it using VPS. But, when I considered colocation with a machine that has a 1 TB SSD or HD then the...

Centos 7 will reach end of life!

CentOS has been my choice for my server operating system.

Is 'unlimited' or 'unmetered' bandwidth in hosting plans truly limitless?

Everything has limits. The computer has a limit on how much bandwidth it can use, the wire that comes to the computer, the space on the computer and other things influence limits.

How many web hosting businesses/companies fail in the first year?

This is the key that I have learned. My first web host told me this when I became a reseller for him.

    I've been trying reseller hosting

I'm working on marketing now also. In the past I let other people know in various ways. I joined ministry sites and put my URL in my profile. I don't have money for advertising so I am working on using free alternatives. You can build a site slowly this way. Buying paid advertising can help you...

    Over Selling

I revisited this today after I added reseller accounts. I had them in the past when I did web hosting and even people with several websites like them because it saves them money. It's also how I started out. Reseller account plans are a bit tricky but I think I have an affordable price range for...

    Over Selling

I started setting up some regular monthly plans to try to keep things simple. I think some people might be scared off with the prices of a yearly plan. I'll see how it goes.

I may have to consider this. I may offer monthly paid accounts also. After almost a month I don't have a single customer. When I ran a hosting company in the past all my clients preferred to pay monthly. I think the yearly numbers scare some people.

    Effective Advertising

The trouble with that for me is that I don't have a physical address I can give. I live in one state and my business is in another. Also, to put your home address on the site could be a security risk. I don't want some nut blowing up my house with a bomb because they got angry at me. In the past...

I can compete with any of the big companies. What I'm seeing is that for your first year you really don't make any money. You charge a low introductory price to build your database with clients and add servers as needed. You charge a very low fee and make barely enough to pay for your servers...
