Used Pingdom for over 10 years, all the way till 2019. We switched to UptimeRobot and never looked back. Pingdom was great, but they got away from the basic 'PING' and started charging more and more while their product/service went downhill.

Very few data centers don't have a generator. A UPS goes a long way, even if you have to provide your own. A UPS is very critical, if monitored - then you can shutdown in case of emergency.

As a host, migration shouldn't be too difficult as long as you're matching technology used. As always, dial the TTL down and wait out the original timer. If the site is a little on the complex side or important, I will do a dry run and update my hosts file. That's my 2¢!
