Which company?

Since you asked.....

I've been with Globat for over three years and had no problems. Their tech support responds within 1 hour (in general for easy problems) and 1 day for technical (talking about database and shells programming) in general.

I don't have problem with upload/download speed and their ftp server is 100% compatible with the popular FTP tools for website uploads.

PHP support is fantastic (very up-to-date) and allows you to run a phpBB bulletin board with a click (you have to download the software from phpBB site, of course).

Sincerely, :pirate:

MOD NOTE: Signatures must be entered in a designated for them space and not manually added to posts. Thank you.

p.s. I think I'm only allowed to do a comercial posting once a day, so I've exceeded my limit with this reply (however, you DID ask. ) Have a nice day.

I had a website hosted with Globat for a year and didn't have any problems.

I don't think there is a "best web host". You need to find a web host that offers a plan that suits your needs.

Exactly, and then research those companies you find that suit your needs to find opinions on those companies.

Test their support, etc...

I am agree with fawh It depends on your needs. If you want to design a personal homepage ,choose a cheap price webhosting company .

the problem when you go for the hosting company with "better" support is there are so many out there that just lie about their support. The best way in my opinion to find the best host for you is simply testing. Test their support response times look at the replys how detailed and helpful are they? check reviews see how long they have been around if they haven't been around long maybe they changed names. Investigate the old names then in that cast. list just goes on.

It is proved that people getting bored about the old hosting companies and their lazy support. Try new hostings as they have good servers than old ones. The old ones are populated with more than 800 sites with poor hardware. No matter how long you are in the industry but it is your quality decides where you go.

This is a huge generalisation. Personally I believe it is false too.

Also, I think too cheap get's you in a lil trouble cuase they can't provide support that you need. But it is not say that expensive hosting has better support too. Go with your gut feeling and make sure that you have a money back offer.

Where did that come from? :magnify:

Globat

I'm also hosted with Globat, but only for about half a year. They experienced some growing pains at first that sort of displeased me (like rather slow php processing speeds) but all those are fixed now and my site runs better than ever. Really don't have any other complaints about them, they offer alot of disc space and bandwidth for a really good price and they don't try to give you that unlimited bandwidth/discspace nonsense. The support is good too. Also they had a small problem with using an outdated control panel but they've also fixed that and replaced it with their own, even adding some features to the package. I haven't been hosted anywhere else yet but I feel I'll be sticking here for a while, as I don't really have anything bad to say about them anymore. :)

Ok, why are people continually using these quick statements of *Reply : I use **** aswell and they're really good*. The person who started this thread doesn't want to know how many of us use ****, but instead why we use them. Give a description of the company's services and what they offer you. Dont just give the name of your host. Honestly say why the original poster should or shouldn't use your host. Dont just go around flaming others, make an effort to 'diplomatically' express your view. This is just my interpretation of the Rules, but I think others hold a strange perpective of them.

Now, back to the matter at hand. I also use Globat.com and find their services very satisfying. I have numerous domains registered with them and have had no problems with the original sale. I merely handed over money for a two year contract and never heard from the helpdesk again...smooth sailing (err...i mean hosting).
After that, my next experience with them was having to contact the support desk about mail issues. The Live Chat, is a nice facility, but is often slow and a bit hard to get a reply from. The problem turned out to be that my mail server was faulty, but after that was changed, I have had no further problems.
The only technical thing I am unhappy with them about is the fact that you cannot make use of the PHP mail () function and have to follow a complicated re-routing function in order to use something similar.

All in all, I reccomend Globat.com, if you find their products suitable. They might seem like overselling, but you'll find that you get everything that is advertised, at a very decent, competitive price.

Hope that helps!

I just want to say that globat live chat support is made to solve easy issues, but technical issues should be solved using a trouble ticket as far as I know.

Of course, you can't expect them to pay a sys admin some $40k+ per year to answer 99% of the time to questions like "How do I setup Outlook?", especially at the prices they're charging. :)
