Where does most of your traffic come from?
If you view your stats, you will see that most referals will show your own pages (And direct request) then you will start seeing other sites.
Most traffic to my sites is normally from web engines, awstats is great for showing the traffic from search engines and the terms used.
Really helps move site up if you know how people are searching for your site.
