I recognized that there are many servers like Apache, Zeus, Litespeed, etc.

What is the fastest server from your point?

Lite is great but we use Apache on more than 400 servers.

But really it depends on what it is you're looking to do, what you want to accomplish and what resources the site needs. Different flavors for different tasks.

Blanket statments of "X" is better than "Y" is nice, but lets back it up with the proof. Do you have benchmark tests that you can link to (other than the developer of the program?)

Linux is better than windows, XP is faster than Vista - both nice claims, but without the numbers to back it up, it doesn't mean a thing.

Anyone got numbers on the validity of the claim?

i would say many hosts are using apache, but i do believe litespeed is better, but then again saying that the end user wouldnt really notice what is being used, its more for the admin side of things....=)

many thanx

There said that litespeed is 3x faster than apache in some conditions. I believe litespeed is faster that is why it is a commercial application.

Conor, I think this is what you are looking for. http://www.beyondcoding.com/2008/02/25/benchmark-litespeed-vs-apache-php-and-plain-html/

Please keep in mind I don't know how to read it or what it is telling us. (suffice it to sale, I have great sales support engineers).

Use both litespeed and apache, I prefer apache probably because I am more familiar with it, in my real world experience I see little difference in speed between apache 2.2/litespeed

I love Apache, SolusVM uses lighttpd. Both seem fine, but I've seen benchmarks which put litespeed beyond most things.

I also quite like IIS7, it's surprisingly fast too.

With the Litespeed version 2.1 the performance of the CGI scripts has been faster. The performance of Litespeed does not degrade with much more number of concurrent client connections to the web server. The nice GUI for administration comes with the litespeed. Majority of the basic administration stuff can be done from the web interface. Another features of the newer version Litespeed include inbuilt Anti-DDoS and load balancer.

I think this is the case for most hosts. Apache has been around since ~1996 and as they say "If it's not broke, don't fix it".

At this moment I've been implementing Apache and never experience before LiteSpeed. However, I read that LiteSpeed is faster and benefitial for some people. One thing to consider, you must know how to modrewrite with it.

Same here.. I've heard Lite is great and fast but apache is free
