Update?

To be honest, I think HostingDiscussion needs an update. I can't belive that WHT has to be the most popular all the time. I know you guys can make this more popular. Update vBulletin, get a new design, advertise on important websites, pay some banners, do some affiliates and I'm sure this will rock on. Maybe my comments where useless, maybe it was said. I don't know, I just feel like it would be nice to have some more activity and KNOWLEDGE to improve ourself.

It would be nice to see some more diversification as far as forums are on the net, WHT is nice but has become terribly slow the last few months for me, HD is much faster, I am fairly new to HD it will be interesting to see how much intelligent conversation goes on, the point system here seems to generate quite a lot of me2 responses. So far I am happy with HD.
 
LUCAS, I cannot say your suggestions are bad. Trust me - we are considering all the options all the time. As it was mentioned before, so far there is no immediate need for a technical update. As far as your affiliate question - I am not sure what you mean. Certainly I would also love to see more activity. We have the reward store for active members and the new PAY MY BILL promotion (http://www.hostingdiscussion.com/paymybill/) - not yet well promoted though (starts next week).

JAY, you mentioned you'd like to see more diversification - could you please elaborate in which way? Your feedback counts big time.

I personally feel it needs a redesign, plus, upgrades make people THINK there are more updates. Probably it's something stupid, but it does count. Anyways, ignore the update vBulletin suggestion, but take into consideration a redesign, I really feel it's a bit messy the homepage and in my mind it says "Hmmm, looks like this is not too good, let's check another web hosting forum". Anyways, I don't have anything against HD, I like it, althought, yes, it would be nice to have more people. :)
 
Lucas, thank you for your feedback once again. Boy do we agree with you! We wish to have more people participate here daily, but then its all up to our own members to make it interesting to come here and spread the word. So far I think we are doing a good job by providing that environment and rewarding members for their activity. I do not know of any other forum providing same benefits on a long-term basis.

Regarding the messy part, could you please make some pointers as to what part of the web site that you find messy so we can take a look into it and perhaps improve it?

The black color of the category names doesn't fit too good with the vbulletin purple. The forums description seems to long for me, I know it explains stuff properly but it seems like too much to read just to join a forum. And well, the welcome box looks just like <font size="10"></font>. Maybe some colors, images?

It's just my personal opinion, please don't get me wrong.

I agree with you on few things definitely.
I will see how we can cut down on forum descriptions without taking away the context, and how we can make the welcome box more welcoming.
