I've had enough of our current User Titles that we've had since God knows when... probably 2003. I wanted to update them for quite some time, but I always lacked time or necessary level of creativity. I think we need to shake things up and make those titles a lot more exciting.

Since I can't seem to get to them myself, I will award 20 bucks to whoever comes up with a set of great new titles. Here are the characteristics of titles we are looking for: creative, engaging, applicable.

Here is the set of our current ones (blew...)

HD Newbie
HD Amateur
HD Addict
HD Master
HD Guru
HD Wizard


I am looking for the smartest idea! :)

Short answer is yes, although I don't know what x is.

EDIT / SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC CONFESSION: When I first joined, I remember becoming completely hooked on getting my user title to advance to the next level. It was crazy. :crazy::crazy2:

I've always liked the title "penguin herder". Think I came across it over at WHT long ago. Not that it helps.. Personally I'd like to see custom titles available @/after "HD Master".

I've thought about it and that's a tough $20 to make. Make it advertising and you'll have my serious attention :)

Don't worry about custom titles, those are the options that will stay regardless of the standard title set.

Quite on topic I'd say, and exactly what I want again.
On one of the other forums I ran long time ago (for startup companies), I we had very cool interactive titles that really motivated people to grow fast. When you first joined the forum, you were an "Intern", and through posting you could grow to a status of a CEO through "employee", "customer service rep", "manager", "vp" and other positions. It was fun.
 
I'm having a hard time putting together an actual "list" that all seem to work together. So I thought I'd just post a few I liked the sound of and let you make what you will of them, if anything..

I like those (especially Got Root? and Fly By Night Host kind of interpretation, starting with the newbie accounts...). :D

We'll see how this contest evolves.
 
Thanks. I can see why you've got a contest for this. Looking around for ideas, pretty much everyone has "standard" titles, just as the current ones here. IMO it mite be best to take the best of a few people's suggestions and come up with them that way.
 
here is my crack -- there is a code here for people in the networking world - i think most will figure it out :)
