New PC motherboards floppy UNfriendly

... yes and no. they don't have floppies installed, but depending on motherboard you can install via scsi, usb, ide, etc. Plenty of ways to get them.

I purchased a PC CHIPS A45G with onboard ide channels:

-One ide connector
-Supports PIO and DMA modes
-Supports ide ultra DMA bus mastering with transfer rates of 133/100/66mb/sec

well it has tons of usb ports, vga 1 port and one lan

can this work?

Any reason why you're wanting to keep the Floppy still around? I don't remember the last time I used one (maybe 10 years ago at this stage). With the cost of USB Drives, I have TONS of these sitting around that hold a heck of a lot more than a floppy ever could.

Any reason why you're wanting to hang on to that technology?

Mister connor detective yes hon,I have stuff on floppies I forgot to transfer and I need to get a hold out of that stuff you know,is not a romantic thing but what I dont see here is nobody tell me how to ask for the floppy device that has usb connection if there is one, well on the shop.

Thank you very much for reading

Yipes! I just threw out all the floppies I've accumulated over the years because I can't remember the last time I used one. I was thinking I need to throw out all those floppy drives too that are in my parts inventory. I'm assuming you're asking about 3 1/2" floppies which you can buy with a USB external connection.

I just threw out one of my USB floppy adapters, but it still worked. You should be able to pick one up extremely cheap.

yes i have a USB floppy drive and even wait for it A USB 250MB ZIP drive. never used then for years. still have somewhere a copy of Norton Anti Virus on floppy disc, i think 9 discs

Why do you need a floppy drive anyway. 1.4MB of storage, yahoo!

But no really, if you need one you can buy an external floppy drive or one that mounts into a 3.5" drive bay.

I still use one on my Yamaha PSR 350 keyboard for MIDI files. I have converted over to USB for the midi connections on it, but I am too lazy to tear the keyboard apart and hardwire in a USB so I can get rid of the floppy drive.:D

The last time I had to use a 3.5" floppy drive was when I had to force a BIOS update on to a server. It was one of the most nerve racking hours of my life trying to make sure I didn't effectively brick the server.

Granted it was an older server, 7-10 years old if I remember.

I would get a USB floppy drive - there cheap and you can use it on any machine, MAC / Win 7 etc.

I just saw this at Newegg for like $18 bucks... -
