Hi guys,

I'm using an ensim RS server which belongs to a mate, however he hasn't got it set up to automatically configure everything when you change the nameservers. I have been using 123-reg to configure the domain names but i can't get the mail working on www.fruit-farm.co.uk to save my life.
I was told to change the mx record to : fruit-farm.co.uk and now to fruit-farm.co.uk. do you think the extra trailing . will make it work? or is there an easier way to make mail start working?

Your DNS config looks OK from here.

I know that entering the trailing slash makes a difference on Win2k DNS server but i'm not sure if it is required on Bind (which i assume you like most of the world are using).

Your MX Record is setup as....
fruit-farm.co.uk MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = fruit-farm.co.uk
.... and assuming that
Name: fruit-farm.co.uk
Address: 64.246.44.107
....is the IP Addr of your mail server, which it looks like it is....

telnet 64.246.44.107 25

MAIL FROM:<mark@web-mail.co.uk>
250 2.1.0 <mark@web-mail.co.uk>... Sender ok
RCPT TO:<user@fruit-farm.co.uk>
250 2.1.5 <user@fruit-farm.co.uk>... Recipient ok
** At this point i cut off as i didn't want to actually send mail, but i can try if you like**

....therefore i would be inclined to check the domain is configured properly in sendmail - apart from that, not sure what to suggest??!? (Therefore i have probably missed something). What errors are you getting?

IMHO it's worth the time and effort to learn how to do it all manually as it helps when things go wrong as they always do.

Cheers
