Managing fraud

Hey guys,

Quick question, when I get a new customer and the payment account is different from the WMCS account should I just decline?

The problem is on credit card transactions I have now way of contact the card owner as it has no email in Paypal :-(

I guess you probably want to say “no way of contact”...Anyway, in this case you can opt certain steps for account verification such as verify the information of client through phone before account set up. In case of more doubts, you can ask them for a scan copy of passport or driving license; match the details with order form.

However, I would strongly recommend you to offer a “bank transfer” option for those clients whose payment accounts are different from the WHMCS account.

Hey, thanks for that Paul, I'm really getting sick of all these fradsters. Does WHMCS have an anti-fraud plugin of some sort?

MaxMind is a must if you're host. It shouldn't be your only defense against fraud, though. Phone verification does wonders as well. ;)

Maxmind is brilliant, you used to be ble to get a free trial which enabled 1000 look ups. Not too sure about now though.
