Hello,
I've got a problem with existhosting.com. I've paid a full year in advance for an account, but I started to realise that my site was down too many times. I've started to have problems because I'm into webdevelopment and each time I was trying to show my clients the work I had done, my site was down.
I've sent serveral emails stating the problem and asking them to give me control of my domain. In the beginning they replyed and told me it was another user on the same server my website was on that was getting attacks and Apache was going down, and they said the problem would'nt reoccur, but it did and they didn't reply to my latest emails. What I'd like to know is if there's any kind of authority I might report this too, and if there is any kind of legal way for me to have access to get back the domain name I've paid for.

Do you have a reciet for the domain name you paid for? Have you called them on the phone to discuss it? That is the problem with yearly contracts. You will get screwed one way or another. Is the admin email address not yours or the businesses that you bought hosting from. Also what is the web site of the hosting comapny.

Regards

What is the actual domain name registrar? You can check the same at http://www.whois.sc/yourdomainname.com . This will let you know the actual domain name registrar. Try contracting them directly telling them the situation. I hope they will help you out.

Regarding hosting amount which you have paid for the full year. Let me know how did you pay them... is it Credit Card or paypal? If you have paid via CC you can charge-back them if they are not listening you. Same way if you have paid via paypal then contact paypal to return the money but you will have to connivance them about your case. Do contact them with full proof and details.

According to their guarantee page, http://existhosting.com/guarantee/, they offer a 99.99% uptime guarantee, and state that refunds will be processed within 30 days. I'd definately give them a call at their toll-free telephone number and see what their malfunction is.
