First paid advertising?

Heylo

Well business is a little quiet right now and ive been playing around with free advertising for quite a while now, Ive decided to try a month of paid advertising, I don't really want to spend more than about $200.

Questions are though:
1.where is the best place to advertise to target the UK market?
2. Is it better to spend the $200 in one place or spend a precentage of it in a few different places.
3. What success have you had advertising UK companies in various places?

for £200 you can have a small add in .net

Or Internet Works, but then, you are also going to be just "another" host as both of them are quite crowded.

Jo, try Google Adwords - its cheap and reasonably effective

Perhaps you could try this Jo... Just found it on another forum....

I have been using FindMyHosting.com for several months now. If you receive a signup from them, you pay a commission to them for 12 months (currently), or the life of the client signup whichever is less.  

You could add your info to this directory (which I believe is going to be big, check it out and see if you agree) for free, and only pay if people sign up for your services at the site.  

I've had 1 referred from them, but they are relavitely new. I expect great things in the long-term.

I have used Google. Its cheap and works for those SPECIFIC keywords that you want. I didn't get any sales from it though. Free advertising is best.
