Experience with hostgators or hostxl.net

Has anyone had any experience with hostgators reseller plans or hostxl.net
i am very new to this and do not want to be singing a sad song by choosing the wrong company.

Maybe you should post your question as a new thread instead of burying it here.

Now, to answer your question a bit, I only have shared hosting experience with hostgator (not reseller). I had no downtime for nearly 5 months. Then a small downtime (under 30 mins) while they were under a very hard DDoS attack, so it wasn't really they fault. In fact they handled it very well.

I don't need much support, but they are always available by either live chat, MSN messanger, etc. When I sent emails to support I received answers in about 5 mins.

Thanks ldcdc
Sorry, i am new to this discussion group.
I appreciate your input, Anyone have any experience with hostxl.net.
I have been reading all the bad remarks but am hoping for some more positive ones.

Thanks

Where did you hear about hostxl.net and why are you "hoping" to hear good things about them when you've only heard bad so far.

Personally if I only hear bad things about a hosting company, I don't go searching for good things, I go searching for a different host.

Thanks guys,
I had not until now heard anything bad about hostxl and was really just trying to get some feedback.
i really appreciate the help.

I thought that I would add that HostXL claims to have over 200 clients. This I find unlikely, if even possible at all since they started in December. Most hosts don't take off like in 6 months. Correct me if I am wrong.

Let's keep adding.

The owner has been banned from WHT. Twice, because he signed up a second time.

First time posters seem to be signing up at various forums to "ask questions" about them, a very very common spam technique, and very similar to this thread.

The owner actually had the nerve to call someone a scam artist because they were offering unlimited bandwidth, when hostxl is overselling maximum.

He has admitted to people on another forum that he uses a stolen (warez) template design, and it's been shown that he uses plagiarized text.

On 04/07/2004 they claimed to be opened for business for 2 months and wanted a review.
On 05/15/2004 they claimed to be opened for business for 5 months and wanted a review.
They registered their domain 03/15/2004.
Do the math.

Do you have any more questions about this model citizen?

Hi again,
I see where the confusion was,
Where i refered to hearing bad things, i was meaning another post i had read about best and worst hosts and i had not heard anything about hostxl specifacally (nothing good either)
Didn't mean to cause confusion.

Yes... I know he always does his homework. I've seen him just as prepared in some other places too, not just on HD. :)

Yes a few bad things about Host XL have been going around, but what we offer on the site we always give 100%

It seems that people don't like new competition and the prices Host XL offers are very good.

Host XL is also expanding very fast, and we currently get 2-3 new sign-ups a day so we do get the odd client that is not happy.

Host XL has also moved to a MUCH better dataceneter: ThePlanet.com

I see on their site they only offer a 10 day. What can go wrong in 10 days??

1000 MB of Space
40 GB Bandwidth
Fantastico Included
Unlimited Sub-Domains
PHP, CGI, Unlimited MySQL
10-Day-Money Back Guarantee <<<<
99.5% Uptime!

That would put me off from the start.
