Do you trust reviews of the hosting providers?

If you ask me, I read independent reviews from trusted sources and real users.
Also I avoid hosts with frequent complaints about uptime, speed, or support.

Many “review” sites (especially those ranking top VPS or shared hosting providers) are affiliate-driven — they earn commissions when you sign up through their links. Look out for Fake positives: some hosts flood Trustpilot with “customer” reviews that are actually staff or paid reviews. The best thing to do is to look at forums that have these discission. For example, LowEndTalk / LowEndBox lots of technically savvy users who actually benchmark VPS performance. Also r/VPS, r/webhosting, r/selfhosted (on Reddit) — real sysadmins and developers discussing uptime, throttling, abuse response, etc.

Of course, you can read the reviews and trust them. However, reviews do happen to be purchased and this can negatively affect your experience, so it's better to clarify the possibility of a refund and then try the hosting you are interested in.

Well, I take hosting reviews with caution. Many are outdated, or written after only a few hours of usage. What matters more is long-term feedback, support time, consistent uptime charts, and how a provider handles issues over time.

Reviews are useful, but they are never the full picture my friend.

Depends on how the review is being "sold". Over the years it has become too easy to spot fake-ish templated reviews versus ones you know you can believe. It doesn't even matter if a review is text-based or in a multimedia format, whether it is published on a host's website or a review website.

That said, customer reviews really matter, and there are ways to keep them genuinely authentic while turning them into a real marketing asset.

When I choose a webhost, I always check the reviews, however I only trust TrustPilot or reviews here or WHT.

Would also recommend not to go to the sites that say top 10 hosting or anything of the likes because those are affiliate sites and for them the best host will be the one that pays them the most for passing you on to them.
