I'm under the age of 18 and I guess you could call me one of those people who wants to become sucessful before I get lots of student loans, mortgage, and bills. Are there any credit card processors that a MINOR (under the age of 18) could sign up for LEGALLY?
Alrthough my parents know about this pursuit of mine, I prefer to keep their bank and credit cards (as well as name) out of this. Also note that this is for merchanting legal, safe, and virus-free digital downloads. I already have a host setup (dreamhost.com is fine for now). Please post suggestions and other options.
Thanks,
Dave

To put it bluntly: No.

No, you are wrong.

Nochex allows minors to sign up. But they still have a restriction i.e. you must be at least 16 years old. But I dont think you're younger than that.

They are continously growing and I'd recommend using them as they have quite low fees.

I'm not sure where you are located, but in the US you can try doing something like this.

Get a Tradename in your state under your business name, which can usually be in your name. Then setup a business checking account at your bank with the Tradename certificate. When you go to signup for your merchant account, one of your parents will need to be the underwriter. You can still be on the account and have all the deposits and such go into your business checking account, but they just need to check the credit of one of your parents before they issue you a merchant account. You may need to do some checking, as some states vary.

As far as I know, there really isn't a way to get around that. You can always try getting an account at 2CO (http://www.2checkout.com/), but it's not the same as a true merchant account. Hope that helps.

I don't think you will find many on Internet since minors makes a lot of mistake and waste a lot of money companies don't trust them a lot.

This has not been said so I guess I will say it. The reason it is hard to get anything at a younger age than 18, is in the US your a minor which means you are not liable for any illegal issues as your a minor. If you do need an account, talk to a parent or guradian to see if he/she can help you with that. It is just a legal issue at this point. I do not think it is for any other reason than the one stated above. But I could be wrong. Also, if you want, send an e-mail or call these merchants to see if there are guidlines for an underage account.
