Couple of months ago visitors on my site complained that their antivirus program found virus on my web site. Latter that week Google indexed my site as dangerous. First I had to remove those Google restriction over the Webmaster Tools and later on I contacted my web hosting support to see what was going on. They said that the virus came from me, but I can assure you my computer was more than clean and I'm the only one to access the site.

Could it be that even the best hosting servers get infected so easy, in spite of their strong protection?
 
Do you run any third-party scripts on your site?

There is a possibility that some software can be compromised and file added or someone posted/uploaded a publicly accessible file that contains the virus.

Any computer can be hack. The most unsecured aspect of any company is the people running it. Social engineering is one tool they use and a very powerful one at that. That is why you have to train every single employee to watch for that kind of stuff. Nothing is really safe, look at NSA they monitor everything.

I don't use third party scripts, site is just clean html/css.

Link for Google is now gone because I asked Google to remove it once my site became clean.

I still don't know how this happened and how the virus was removed. Although shady answers from my host were very strange. They continuously repeated that the virus came from me, but when I excluded all possibilities for that I accused them and they just responded thank you, we'll look into it...
 
Its a old/new virus in the wild... known to infect the webmasters computer , then when u upload your html files, they infect your users.

just get a decent antivirus and you will be safe....
as for the server side, ... just google about it..
 
it uses ftp information it finds on infected machines and use it to infect other websites - it;s an old virus but being seen more frequently recently.
 
Yeah I know, this is why I keep lots of protection on my computer and do scans all the time. As I said it was not I who got the server infected but my hosting provider.
 
I've suffered the same. It happens when you run the third-party script. Running script sometimes allows third-party to send trojan very easily.

Try to use "Deep Freeze" it can protect your computer from virus.

Deep Freeze protects the computer by utilizing a separate partition on the hard disk drive for write back. When the computer is rebooted, this partition is treated empty again and existing information on it is inaccessible. This allows users to make 'virtual' changes to the system, giving them the appearance that they can modify core files or even delete them, and even make the system unusable to themselves, but upon reboot the 'frozen' state of the operating system is restored.

To make changes, a system administrator must 'thaw' the system partition, make any needed changes, and 'freeze' it again. These changes are saved to the protected partition instead of the 'thawed' write back partition. See more details here
