3GB Storage 500GB Bw for around $10? O.O

Sounds like a great formula for disaster.
Why would anyone in his right mind trust such a scam? An obvious lie.

How did you hear about this company? They seem to have just started up.

Oh, I doubt its a "scam". Their website just took 93 seconds to load over my cable modem thats supposed to be high speed - every other page on the Internet loads fine...but it must be my ISP (I'm on hold for tech support right now).

Asside from my obvious cable modem slow speed issue...their Terms of Service state quite clearly that they charge $40 for any type of backup restoration, don't guarantee anything, require two weeks notice before you can cancel an account, and they can refuse service to anyone at any time (aka, can go out of business at any time).

How could that possibly be a scam?

And why am I still on hold for my ISPs tech support - with web hosting like that and their obvious template monster website (without any modifications) it has to be an issue on my end - and I want to look at web sites faster than 93 seconds!

:thankyou:

My friend already contracted them and got a domain name and hosting, the "super duper" plan. Yes, the problem is the servers are slow, really slow, and Cpanel just mentioned something about "Not enough space in hard drive", thought it was only for a few minutes.

That doesn't look to save to me. I mean, if you really want the best support, and all those essentials, then I wouldn't want to pay $5 for that.

Just my opinion.

usually when hosts offer those sorts of things they are mostly likely on a reseller account and been told they have "unlimited" space and bandwidth, so they sell like 5GB storage and 50GB for a dollar a month which i doubt they have altogether - because they are newbies to hosting and dont understand! Plus if they were a professional company they would not use a free template, I have seen about 15 different web hosts use that same template...

450mb Space
120GB Bandwith

4.95? O.O
(Australian dollars, even less than american dollars)

3GB Storage Space
500GB bandwith
for $13 AUD?

How can it be so cheap? I mean it's the cheapest host I have seen, money for value-wise.

( If you want to make the conversion from Australian dollars to US dollars, you can use www.xe.com )

Well, their disk space to bandwidth ratio is pretty large. It looks like they are counting on the possibility that most people who sign up won't use anywhere near all of their allocated bandwidth.

I think what it really comes down to is how efficiently the overselling is managed. If managed properly and reasonably, this method of overselling CAN work. But with incompetent management, it can be a disaster (levi1.com).

As I always say, go for a host that sets out limits for you. Its no use them telling you its unlimited, cause it never is....welcome to the world of overselling. I found with too many hosts that the package they supply is much less than what they promised. I would only ever go with a company like Globat.com, which sets out limits....otherwise, whats the point? You know its going to be a scam somewhere along the line...its inevitable you will get let down and when you do, there will probably be a 6hours que before you FINALLY get onto that online chat facility...
Just my 2 cents

They just hope not many people ever use what is advertised. The common practice of "overselling" (based on the proven statistic that 90%+ of hosting customers never use anywhere close to all their "plan" resources).
Here is some simple math to illustrate. Look at the cheap-end dedicated servers like 1.3 Celerons with 512 MB ram and say a 60GB hard disk (one). With a basic cPanel this will cost $80-$120 with a "bargain" sever company that doesn't provide administration or security or updates (the host has to be qualified to operate and maintain the server themselves).
OK most dedicated plans come with 1,000GB bandwidth. So even on a "cheap" server from a "bargain" company they could only host 8 120GB plans without overselling. 8 X $5 = $40. Can you see any way to turn a profit there?
Customers in hosting are very unique. They are people who would never buy a fake Rolex watch for $100 or expect Starbucks Coffee for 25 cents a cup but they will jump all over offers like these. Especially if they are not so obvious...say these guys were offer 60GB transfer for that price on that same server; that would still be $80, barely the cost of the cheapest server much less any profit or CC processing fees etc. Still no way to make a profit.
ANY type business must make enough profit to be worth being in business. If your server costs $100 and you don't clear at least $3 AFTER you pay all your bills and pay yourself something you would be better off putting the money in a basic savings account at 3% interest. No risk, no work, same profit.
But most hosting "shoppers" seem to forget all that and just compare " host A has this for $6.95, host B has the same thing for $5.95, host C has twice as much for only $2.95...Gee I'm going with host C, what a great deal!!!"
A few months later they are posting about how their host went out of business or is down all the time and takes 2 days to answer a support ticket...where can I find a good host for $2.95? Like they never learn.
The old saying still holds true..."if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is"

unlimited space or bandwidh providing hosts or extremely cheap hosts are always a question mark and a big risk as well. I recommend you not pay them before trying their services at least 1 month.

If they are providing a free trial service, you may try them :agree:
