How many people here are using one billing software that is split between different branches and/or brands of your company? I was wondering if I am the only one doing this or not?

I was hoping I could do that, since im currently running three hosting companies.

But it proved difficult with WHMCS to "split-it" into three "sub-sites".

So im currently running running three installations, which all sends me updates to my primary email.

What billing system are you using ?

I think if you are running as a DBA for the sub companies, then it would be simple. If you were trying to get true financials, so you can track profits and loss, you may want to use different billing software for each.

I guess you can break the reporting down by product type. At the same time, is another 15.95 a month worth not having to spend a couple hours a month to break a single billing software down to multiple companies?

Personally I always think its nice to know which are making money and which are lossing.

I wouldn't try to make a billing system do that. It is possible to have one system bill different product lines that are part of the same business, but after that it gets complicated.

We use a single billing system (WHMCS) for our various brands - basically using the products section. Everything gets billed under our corporate name (Hands-on Technologies LLC), but there are divisions to our company - domains, shared hosting, dedicated servers, and ssl. Our SSL is actually a branded Comodo SSL Certificate, but completely separate company.

Depending on investors, issues with accounting, and tracking - you may NEED to keep things separate. It's best to contact your accountat as to how much the sharing of assets can affect your various companies.
