The new product, intended for Kubernetes environments on both hyperscalers and bare metal, addresses an urgent need: handling stateful data across broken, hybrid infrastructure without the hypervisor overhead.

Until now, many teams have struggled to maintain resilience and performance when deploying containerized applications across multiple clouds. Nutanix recognized this challenge and developed a solution that closes the gap. Rather than repurpose outdated methods, the company built Cloud Native AOS from the ground up to serve Kubernetes clusters with native support for high-performance, enterprise-grade storage.

Key to this is that this platform facilitates simplifying disaster recovery and mobility of data across environments. Developers can manage replication and provisioning via native Kubernetes APIs, eliminating complexity and reducing friction between application and infrastructure teams. By providing support for these features without introducing complexity, Nutanix empowers IT teams with the ability to react faster and scale smarter.

Moreover, Cloud Native AOS enables seamless application movement between clouds and on-premises environments. This flexibility lets businesses respond quickly to regional disruptions or shifting regulatory demands. With integrated lifecycle management and support for mission-critical workloads, the platform adds resilience at the storage layer—without locking teams into one ecosystem.

Early adopters already see the upside. Bacher Systems reported faster storage operations and increased dependability, while Networld praised the platform’s ability to simplify cross-region failover and data migration.

Now available through early access on Amazon EKS, Cloud Native AOS will expand to support on-prem bare-metal environments by year’s end. Nutanix isn’t just responding to where enterprise IT is headed—it’s helping shape the path forward.

Nutanix has moved well beyond its heritage in virtualized infrastructure, introducing Cloud Native AOS—a significant pivot that takes its trusted storage capabilities into the cloud-native arena.
