The company announced plans to invest more than $10 billion across the <a href=\"https:\/\/hostingdiscussion.com\/news\/gulf-businesses-are-choosing-uae-based-vps-hosting-over-generic-global-infrastructure\/\">UAE<\/a>, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait by 2030, covering capital and operating costs for new cloud and AI capacity. It unveiled the plan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Connectivity gets its own slice. Microsoft plans to put more than $400 million into subsea and terrestrial networks across the <a href=\"https:\/\/hostingdiscussion.com\/news\/microsoft-sets-q4-2026-launch-for-saudi-arabia-east-cloud-region\/\">Middle East<\/a>, building on existing infrastructure such as the SeaMeWe-6 cable, which lands in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Meanwhile, the company says its regional strategy now goes beyond supplying capacity. Governments and businesses, it argues, also need to keep data secure and services running as they lean harder on digital infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">That thinking shaped a new Middle East Digital Resilience initiative. Microsoft says it draws partly on lessons from recent regional disruption, and it will offer resilience assessments, reference architectures, readiness guidance and training programs. Alongside that, the company plans to widen its data protection, sovereignty and business continuity offerings for eligible customers, using products like Sovereign Public Cloud, Sovereign Private Cloud and Project Digital Shield. Cybersecurity cooperation with national authorities in all four countries rounds out the package.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Our responsibility is not only to invest in the technology that enables that progress, but to help provide the digital resilience, security and continuity it depends on,&#8221; said Brad Smith, Microsoft&#8217;s vice chair and president.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Partnerships carry a lot of weight in the plan. Microsoft will deepen its work with Saudi Arabia&#8217;s HUMAIN, the UAE&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/hostingdiscussion.com\/news\/g42s-ai-campus-rethink-shows-the-limits-of-standard-cloud-redundancy\/\">G42<\/a>, Qatar&#8217;s QAI and the Kuwaiti government, alongside existing work on Abu Dhabi&#8217;s TAMM platform and Qatar&#8217;s TASMU programme. Skills matter too, because Microsoft has already pledged to train more than 4.2 million people across the four countries by 2030, through efforts such as Saudi Arabia&#8217;s AI Global Leadership Program and the Women&#8217;s Datacenter Academy.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Naim Yazbeck, who leads Microsoft&#8217;s Middle East and Africa business, said regional countries aren&#8217;t waiting for someone else to write AI&#8217;s future.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Until now, Microsoft pursued these strands one deal at a time.
