Monarx<\/a> just launched a dark web monitoring<\/a> product built around a claim worth sitting with: in its recent rollouts, the company says compromised credentials showed up across more than 60 percent of a hosting provider’s customer base. No sample size, no named providers, just that number from Monarx’s own deployments. Still, if even a fraction of that holds up across the industry, it explains why the company built this the way it did.<\/p>\n

The setup itself skips a step most monitoring tools require. Instead of asking a host to hand over a list of email addresses to watch, Monarx starts with a domain the provider already has on file. CEO Luke Langford described it plainly: the service processes breach data for every email address tied to that domain, whether the mailbox is currently active or not. Monarx can fold in a small business owner’s personal Gmail too, but only when someone deliberately links it, not automatically.<\/p>\n

What a customer actually sees stays deliberately vague, and that vagueness is the point. Instead of showing an exposed Social Security number or password, the report only flags the category, financial data, government ID, login credentials, without displaying the value itself. Langford said masked values, something like the last four digits of a card, are coming next, giving customers enough to recognize the alert as theirs without exposing the full number under a host’s own brand.<\/p>\n

The dataset behind all this is genuinely large. Monarx<\/a> draws it from more than 100 terabytes of indexed intelligence going back to 2014, covering over 800 billion compromised credentials and 55 billion breached accounts, and scans for 85 data types across that set. Monarx positions that breadth against free tools like Have I Been Pwned, arguing those services only cover a slice of what’s actually exposed across the dark web.<\/p>\n

For hosts, the pitch is straightforward: white-label pricing between $1.99 and $9.99 a month per domain, a 50\/50 revenue split as the default, and integration through existing billing systems like WHMCS<\/a>. Monarx’s own revenue calculator, using 100,000 domains at a 10 percent opt-in rate, estimates $600,000 in annual recurring revenue before any splits or churn, though the company is careful to call that a projection, not a promise.
