That pattern seems to be shifting, and Onlive Server‘s newest hosting rollout shows where things are heading.

The company launched a Linux cPanel hosting environment that bundles Imunify360 directly into the package, rather than offering it as an optional upgrade. The pairing itself isn’t new. Hosting providers have long relied on cPanel as the standard control panel for managing domains, files, databases, and email without touching a command line, and many already use Imunify360 to watch for malware, intrusion attempts, and other common threats. What stands out is that Onlive Server now includes both in the base environment instead of leaving security as something customers have to remember to purchase separately.

That distinction matters more than it might seem. Many small businesses, bloggers, and agencies running client sites lack the time or expertise to configure security tools on their own, and that gap is historically where breaches happen. Bundling the protection in from the start removes that decision point entirely.

The infrastructure itself runs on Linux, which the company says handles the kind of workloads modern websites actually generate: dynamic content, database queries, image-heavy pages, and fluctuating traffic. Onlive Server built it for a fairly broad range of users, from single-site startups to agencies managing dozens of client projects, WordPress installs, and everything from portfolio sites to development environments.

None of this reinvents hosting. Plenty of providers already offer cPanel and Imunify360 in some form. What’s changing is the default setting. As more businesses run entire operations, sales, bookings, customer data, through a single website, treating security as optional increasingly clashes with what a website actually needs to survive online.

Whether bundling becomes the norm across the hosting industry or stays a differentiator for providers like Onlive Server remains to be seen, but the direction of travel is hard to miss.

For years, businesses bought website security as an add-on, a separate line item most people skipped until something went wrong.
