CEO Frank Thomson Leighton told analysts the contract pushes Akamai&#8217;s total multiyear commitments for cloud infrastructure services past $2.8 billion so far this year. That volume was enough for the company to raise its own revenue growth outlook, now projecting acceleration into the low teens for 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">Here&#8217;s the detail that actually stands out, though. CFO Edward McGowan told analysts Akamai has sold out its GPU capacity completely. Fulfilling this new contract alone requires another $500 million in capital spending just to rebuild and expand that capacity. That&#8217;s not a company casually adding a new customer. That&#8217;s a company scrambling to keep up with demand it&#8217;s already struggling to meet. <a href=\"https:\/\/hostingdiscussion.com\/news\/akamai-secures-100m-cloud-deal-amid-expansion-in-security-compute-services\/\">Akamai<\/a>&#8216;s overall quarterly revenue reached $1.1 billion, up 5% year over year, and within that, the cloud infrastructure segment grew 39% to $99.3 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzhpc.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Buzz HPC<\/a>, the GPU cloud arm of <a href=\"https:\/\/hostingdiscussion.com\/news\/hive-locks-in-30m-as-canadas-sovereign-ai-cloud-market-accelerates\/\">Hive Digital Technologies<\/a>, landed a smaller but more detailed deal on the same front. The company signed a five-year, $350 million agreement with an enterprise customer, pushing its total annualized revenue to $180 million, split between roughly $35 million already generating revenue and about $145 million in contracted revenue set to activate by the end of 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">Unlike Akamai&#8217;s announcement, Buzz HPC actually specified the hardware involved: a dedicated cluster of 2,016 Nvidia Blackwell Ultra GPUs, running in Nvidia GB300 NVL72 systems, housed at the Bell AI Fabric data center in Merritt, British Columbia. Vast Data&#8217;s operating system will power the cluster, with deployment on track for year&#8217;s end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">Craig Tavares, Buzz HPC&#8217;s president and COO, framed the deal as part of a broader push to establish the company as a leading <a href=\"https:\/\/hostingdiscussion.com\/news\/buzz-hpc-breaks-ground-on-canadas-largest-sovereign-ai-data-center\/\">sovereign AI cloud<\/a> provider in Canada, building out infrastructure through partnerships with Bell and Vast Data rather than going it alone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two cloud infrastructure companies landed sizable GPU contracts this month, and together they say a lot about how tight AI compute capacity has actually gotten.
