DreamHost<\/a> just fixed a problem that’s been quietly frustrating small business owners for years: the moment you sit down to build a website and realize your actual menu, your mission statement, your service list, is trapped inside a PDF, and now you have to type all of it out again into a chat box.<\/p>\n

Remixer<\/a>, DreamHost’s AI website and app builder, can now read documents directly. Upload a PDF, CSV, Markdown file, or plain text document, and Remixer pulls the content straight from it while generating or editing a site. A restaurant can hand over its actual menu file. An agency can upload its service list. A nonprofit can drop in its program descriptions. Nobody has to retype or paste chunks of text into a prompt just to get their existing content onto a new site.<\/p>\n

Ralph Castro, DreamHost<\/a>‘s VP of Product, put it plainly: a lot of customers already have the content they want sitting somewhere in a file, and forcing them to manually transcribe it into a chatbot was an unnecessary hurdle that didn’t need to exist in the first place. Building document intake into Remixer removes that step entirely.<\/p>\n

This matters because content creation tends to be exactly where website builds stall out. Remixer could already generate a full first draft from a single prompt, but adding document support means that first draft now arrives with real substance already baked in, closer to something a business could actually launch rather than a rough skeleton that still needs hours of content work.<\/p>\n

The update also brings a couple of smaller but genuinely useful changes. Media storage is now unified, meaning images, video, audio, and documents all live in one asset library scoped to each individual project, replacing an older system that pooled every image across an entire account regardless of which project it belonged to. File links in public storage buckets are now permanent too, with a simple copy button, fixing an earlier setup where links expired after just fifteen minutes.<\/p>\n
